What TangoPassion Is Really About

There’s a question I kept coming back to after years of dancing and teaching:

What actually makes someone wonderful to dance with?

Not what steps they know. Not how they look. It’s a feeling — the quality of their balance, the way they’re present, the embrace that makes you want to dance with them again.

That’s what TangoPassion is built around. Real Argentine Tango, taught for the milonga floor — not the performance stage. The basics most teachers skip. The connection that makes it worth coming back for.

All levels. All ages. No attitude.

Rooted in the heart of Argentine tradition, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting the essence of tango. we offer classes, events, and a welcoming space for tango lovers of all levels.

Classes & Pricing

Drop in for £15, or commit to the full 6-week course for £75 — that’s your sixth class on us. No partner needed to start.

Private Lessons

Guy only: £40  •  Guy & Shayla: £80

The fastest way to feel the difference. One-to-one, no distractions. We work on what you actually need — not a generic curriculum. Whether you’re starting from scratch or untangling habits from years of classes, private lessons get you there faster than anything else.

Workshops

Coming soon

Immersive single-topic sessions that go deeper — embrace, musicality, improvisation. Focused, unhurried, practical. Dates announced when scheduled.

Practica

Open to all levels

Class teaches you what to do. Practica is where you find out if you can actually do it. Low pressure, supported practice. Try things. Get them wrong. Try again. This is where the real learning happens — with music, with partners you haven’t danced with before, without the safety net of following along.

Open to Any Level!

You have the foundations. Now we work on connection, musicality, and making your dancing feel extraordinary for your partner. Drop-in or commit to a course.

What students say

“I have had tango lessons elsewhere, but they’ve been more about teaching moves rather than the feel of the dance. And I feel I need to learn the feel of the dance before I learn moves. This is what Guy is teaching me.”

“When you get it right, it just feels amazing.”

“With other dances, you dance moves — you’re not always actually dancing.”

“Guy builds from the bottom up — it’s like building a house. You start with good foundations and then the house grows and flourishes and stands the test of time.”

Common Questions

How much do classes cost?
Drop-in classes are £15 — just show up. If you want to commit to the full journey, the 6-week course is £75: you pay for five classes and the sixth is on us.

Most people who try a drop-in come back. The course is there for when you’re ready to go further.

Why do the 6-week course instead of just dropping in?
Because tango doesn’t work in instalments. The foundations build on each other — what you learn in week two only makes sense because of week one.

Drop-ins are great for getting a feel for things, or for returning students keeping their hand in. But if you’re genuinely starting, the course gives you the arc. And six classes for £75 works out at £12.50 each — you’re getting one free.

Other schools taught me a new figure every week. Why don’t you?
Because figures aren’t the point. A figure only works if the person leading it can actually lead, and the person following can actually follow. Without that, you’re both just doing a shape you memorised together. It doesn’t transfer to a milonga. It doesn’t work with a new partner.

We teach the thing underneath the figures first. When that’s in place, the figures take care of themselves — and they actually work.

How will I know if I’m improving?
Ask yourself: do people want to dance with you again? Is it easier to feel what your partner is doing? Do you feel more settled in your body when you move?

That’s progress. A longer list of figures isn’t.

I’ve been dancing two years at another school — am I intermediate?
Maybe. It depends entirely on what was taught. Come to a class and we’ll figure it out together. There’s no ego here about levels — only about whether you have the foundations that make everything else possible.
